Small Wonders is a non-denominational Christian center sharing the love of God while educating the whole child – emotionally, socially, physically, creatively, and cognitively. Our program promotes Christian values and is presented in an atmosphere of love and mutual respect. Our primary focus is to teach children educational concepts in a caring and loving environment. Developing these concepts will prepare each child to successfully make transitions in every step of his/her life.
Small Wonders’ mission is to serve the community as a Christian, non-profit, early childhood center. Small Wonders is its own entity and is not affiliated with any other company.
Philosophy
Children learn best through the exploration of their environment and hands-on experiences. It is important for children to develop self-awareness and self-confidence as well as physical, emotional, and mental capabilities. The staff at Small Wonders believe in educating the whole child and is committed to the healthy development and well-being of the child by providing a safe and secure environment. Our childcare environment provides developmentally appropriate opportunities that allow children to be successful. All of this is done in a Christian atmosphere.
Parents are invited and encouraged to participate in our childcare activities.
Statement of Faith
Small Wonders believes in teaching children the Bible in its entirety along with the Ten Commandments and the Fruits of the Spirit. Our programs honor and abide by the teachings of the Apostles’ Creed and the Lord’s Prayer.
Objective
Small Wonders’ objective is to build a strong foundation that will enhance a child’s self-esteem and to build a strong relationship with God which will help foster self-esteem and self-worth along with compassion for others. A strong self-esteem will help a child in his/her future years of education. Small Wonders provides each child with a warm, Christian atmosphere.
Our Programs
Small Wonders provides care at each of our centers for children from six weeks old through 12 years. Our programs include infant, toddler, early preschool, PreK, and school age classrooms.
Curriculum
Children learn through self-directed play so they are given ample time to explore activities, to play alone, or to play with other children with each of these areas being backed by a Christian foundation, lesson, and Fruits of the Spirit – acts of kindness. Each classroom is developmentally structured which promotes the development of the whole child. Structured play helps set the foundations for success in future education. Each center has play areas available for both indoor and outdoor activities. The children are provided with nutritious meals and snacks that are prepared daily at each center.
Small Wonders offers full-day PreK which is included in our childcare program beginning in our three-year-old classrooms and continuing through the year before kindergarten. Each of our classrooms uses Conscious Discipline and Creative Curriculum. The executive director and the training & education director developed the daily lesson plan format for Small Wonders which promotes the development of the whole child. The head teachers create the activities posted on each weekly lesson plan.
Licensing
Each Small Wonders childcare center is fully licensed by Cass County Social Services and the state of North Dakota. Childcare is provided for children ages six-weeks through preschool. Small Wonders also provides care for school-age children who are ages five to 12 years old.
Hours
Small Wonders Child Care Center is open from 6:45 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The center is closed on major holidays. See Vacation, Holidays, and Other Time Off for a schedule of holidays.
